I have returned from the woods with a dozen mosquito bites, weary legs and at least a few pounds lighter.

Being away was good and bad. I experienced quiet, serenity, beauty and the company of good friends. I also missed my computer, my bed, and received so many bug bites. It was definitely worth it though.

The hiking was extraordinary. We hiked for 4+ hours the 2nd day there, and then for 2 more hours in full gear on the 3rd day. I've never been tested so much physically. In a sick way, I loved it.

Today I returned to work. I can't say I was thrilled about it. I'm getting tired of working for other people. I'm tired of wasting my life away at the whims of others. Being a corporate servant or puppet if you will has never worked for me. I don't think it ever will. If I end up moving from assistant manager to manager one day, I'll still have to answer to someone.

I think this happens everytime I have some extra time off, whether it's a holiday or vacation. I analyze everything and decide I need more control over my life, but end up returning to where the money flows, because I always find that I need some.

If only I could figure out how to do my own thing and get paid to do it. The wheels begin to turn...
