Here's a piece I scribbled last night in the dark before bed.


"Another Day in a Row"


Accustomed to nothing and fancying everything
I awaken once again from the night
What I'm lacking in spirit, I'm lacking in time
I'm rushing to duty, but these steps are not mine
The cars and the sky, the colors sublime
I don't even put up a fight

I get where I'm going but I haven't gone far
Ever wonderful motivations have eluded me again
I sleep when I speak, I stare when I blink
All the while consumed by where to begin
I can't finish this race on my knees
So I take a few moments to ask for my release
Instead I must bite
Instead I must drink
Instead I must rest
Til I succumb to the call

Witness the stop and stall, pity the rise, the fall, that's all
