I would check out any kind of NIkon. Depending on how much you want to spend, you could probably get a d40 for a lot less than they used to be! it's an SLR, and it takes really nice pictures!

That or check out some of the Canon SLRs, I don't know much about the Canon's, but I'll just imagine that many SLRs will take good pictures.

PS: I do love my Nikon D40, it may not be top of the line, but I think it takes great photos!
