So yeah, Ummm I've been busy. What with making a household run, planning the trip to bend to see the loverly ColoredDreams and what have you. Mostly with the what have you really. I know I'm being a braggart. I know Pride is a deadly sin, but dammit, I made pretty things, and I wanna show you. So here you go.
You know how I have been mentioning my fused jewelry class. Well it finished a couple thursdays ago. I have been waiting until I had some finished peices to show everyone. I haven't even shown my family. (I hate half-done things) So I took the cacabchons that I fused using dichroic glass and ground a channel into them with this super cool bit for my grinder! It's awesome, the bit says it's for 16-18 gauge wire, but it really doesn't seem to matter that I'm using 22 gauge. So I'm wire wrapping the pendants in 22 gauge sterling silver. I think they look bomb ass, the color is so off in the photos though. :-( Oh well. Here they are!
Oh yeah, fucking cool. So what do you do with left over wire? It's sterling silver, so you don't want to just toss it. So, You make chain! Yup, I've been making chain! It's super fun and I can play with it. My hands (thumbs specifically) hurt like nothing has hurt before. I have pretty chain though, fair trade me thinks. Oh it's just the two on the right by the way. The pendant in the center-ish is on a cool chain from torrid, costume, but pretty.
BUT WAIT! there's more! I didn't have the supplies to work on the pendants for a while. So I went to the craft store and this Idea has been rumbling around in my head for a while. I decided it needed to move out to make some space for deeper more elegant thoughts. So here we go, felt flower hair clips.
yes I know two are just fun shapes.. but most are flowers.
I've been a busy little beaver! get it Oregon... beaver.... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Did you know, that in portland proper, i feel too normal, but out here in the burbs I stick out like a sore thumb. Not everyone is used to people who wear a bat-pack hanging out and being random. Whatever, I guess I am just me.
I am trying to think of a way to get the money together to buy a kiln. I do beleive I have found a solution. The kiln I want from Skutt is pretty formidable and I know it's going to take a while to save the money so I am going to ask my family that any presents for my birthday etc. either go to an account set up for the purchase of a kiln, or into cline glass company gift certificates. I know how to fire a kiln, it's just getting the schedules right. It shouldn't be to hard. Maybe I could sell some of my stained glass and fused glass to make some money to add to the fund.
I am just really really stoked about the whole prospect of me having found a viable way to make money. I know Victor loves his role as provider, and I know that even though we are random and fight, we love each other super deeply. Still, it's never smart to rely on someone else for everything. Contingency plans are better when you have one.
Yeah my speech patterns are fucked up, but I don't care. Fuck Grammar....right in it's lentil-face! Yeah! the trend continues.
Yesterday I hit a milestone in my peircing process, or at least my peircing healing process, I was able to take my nose screw out... and get it back in all by my lonesome. YAY! now once I find it again I can put my spike back in.
Ummm... I like plants. I want to weave. I need to go see grandma.
Any Questions?
Cause I can't think of a damn one!
