So I think Bach's Brandenburg Concerti would sound amazing performed by a punk band. And i may well be insane or idiotic for saying that, but there it is. For me, the Brandenburg concerti have a rhythm and melody that are incredible potent through simplicity and directness. Bach is so punk, in his own context. While his music can be very complicated and mathematically concatenated, all of the trappings are always built over a very simple, basic repeating theme. There is always something quasi-elemental that drives the entire piece, especially the 4th Brandenburg. This first occurred to me listeing to a concert at Carnegie Hall, and i've been pondering it every once and a while for the last year. A punk version of the Brandenburgs. Now that is music i would want to buy.

of course, it could also sound like complete shit. but at least it would be new and novel shit, and not more re-heated garbarge.
