Men paying for just-talk or public accompaniment? Do men really do this?

Believe it or not it is quiet common. Sometimes I am asked to attend a functions, more often then not it is a dinner date with great conversation. Some clients I will see only once, many others become quiet regular.
I had a client that saw me every week for almost two years for a 4hr afternoon lunch date. After his wife of 25yrs passed away he was lonely. He had many friends but he was the type of guy that found it very hard to share with others. He found it easy to talk to me, in the process we became pretty good friends he has since remarried and moved on. He still stays in touch and sends me a beautiful gift every year on my Birthday.
The human element does exists in this industry, unfortunately that is not what sells papers. The media tends to sensationalize that which they believe to be true and more often then not it is the dirty grimey side of things.
