Here' s the latest fun from the attic
Setting the Scene:
May 17th, 1942.
Brooklyn, NEW YORK
The US propoganda is talking about the Allies taking the advantage (which was really not true in 1942, we were getting our asses kicked in a lot of places). My Grandfather has been stationed in Wyoming for about 5 days, there have been about 7 letters back and forth already...and this is my favorite passage.
"Do you know what MAJOR TRADGEDY has overtaken New York, darling with you away? THE BAGLE-BAKERS HAVE GONE ON STRIKE! That's right- Sunday morning and not a bagle to be had for love or money. Imagine Sunday lox with TOAST! Doesn't that give you the shudders? And yet, that's what I was reduced to. I certainly hope those men win whatever they're striking for and start the bagles rolling again."
THEY ARE SOOOOOO CUUUUTTTTTTEEEEEEEE
-reliving my family history_

That is going to become a new Joe Catchphrase, I love it! Every Sunday without a bagel will meet those words coming from my mouth, history reliving itself in a modern context! Rock!
