Yesterday I had the *best* day at work! It didn't start off great (I was scolded a bit by Drew), but then it got much better. A sailor and his wife came in wanting a mermaid on the sailor's arm, but the guys were all booked up. However, the couple were only in town for a few days, and they wanted the tattoo from Bluebird. So, when Chris got a cancellation, I called them at their hotel right away. It was about 1:45 and I told them they could come in at 3:00 for an appointment with Chris, and then talked to them about the particulars of the mermaid. Basically, he wanted a mermaid with the end of her tail coiled around the end of a trident, and her nipples covered. Not a super-sexy pinup mermaid, just a pretty one. It was for his upper arm, so pretty large, too. "...And in came a sailor with mermaids tatttooed on his arm..." It's from a Nick Cave song, so I was way into the idea.

Since Chris was tattooing, it was up to me to quickly pull this mermaid design out of my head and get it on paper and then into tattoo-able line-drawing form. And hell yeah, I did it! The couple came in at like quarter to 3:00, and they said they *loved* my design and were all stoked about it. They couldn't believe I got it done in such a short amount of time. It was really cool seeing how happy they were! So, by the time Chris finished his prior appointment, I had the line drawing all ready for him and was even able to clean up his station like a good girl.

Chris tattooed it on the sailor, and even had time to put the color in. He has such a cool style with shading and coloring. Like, if I had colored it, it wouldn't have come out half so cool and unique. But it was awesome seeing my mermaid on this sailor's arm.

Then a girl who I met a few weeks ago called wanting some practice piercings (free) from me. She wanted her nipples done, her clitoral hood, and TWO EXTRA LITTLE NIPPLES she had above her regular ones pierced as well! WTF!?! I was like, hell yes, please come in and let me pierce you! She did, and I have now done some piercings that very few piercers get to do. superfluous nipples. It was awesome. The hood piercing was really hard to get the hang of, but Drew was helping me. We were fooling around down there for like 15 minutes, and it was becoming more difficult because she was getting kinda stimulated, and then the skin would jump around as I was trying to position the cork to receive the needle. But, I finally got it and completed a perfect hood piercing. Yay! She loved all the piercings I gave her, and even tipped me a nice amount.

I also did my first professional cartilage piercing yesterday. So yay, I'm now making a little bit of money.

AND... I get to see the Pogues in Chicago next Wednesday. I am sooooooo excited. I'm just counting the hours. They're like my favorite second only to Nick Cave! I never thought I'd get to see them! So thanks, Wickedmonkey, for letting me know about the tours!
