This is where we held our Beltaine celebration this year

Flintstone Palace, Baghdad, Iraq - built by Saddam for his grandkids, it's supposed to be a replica of Bedrock, the village in the Flintstone's cartoons. It is SWEET biggrin

I took the pic from the top of "The Victory Over America Palace" which was never completed (but it's still pretty damn tall, as you can tell; I just love the name, and the fact that it's unfinished). Flintstone actually looks over the lake, and is one of the most peaceful, relaxing places I have been since I got here. We brought two guitars (and their people), my djembe (my spelling sucks, I know), and another drum I didn't recognize. It was great. After our ritual we got a good rhythm going together, good fire going in the pit, and were lovin life - if only momentarily. It was a really short moment; the MPs showed up and kicked us out.
whatever poo on them
I can't be too mad, I guess - they weren't total assholes about it. Somewhere, there was a communication fuck up, and our reservation for the night didn't get forwarded to the right people, so as far as they were concerned, we weren't allowed to be there. They were going to arrest us and call our commands until they found out we were sponsored by the corps chaplain. They still escorted us off the property, but we just moved to the big Green Beans (coffee shop) a few miles away. We were getting hungry/thirsty anyway.
biggrin
Great night. miao!!
