It came slowly, a tiny sprig
poking out of the earth,
seeking the sun, kissing the rain.
Nurtured by a starving heart.
It spread its limbs around me,
caressing me. Leaves sprouted
brushing my lips tickling my tongue,
promising endless tomorrows....
Too bad it was hemlock.
