So there it is. After several attempts to upload this fucker. I just added it elsewhere so you could see it in a bit of a larger detail. Just hope it works now.
Now I'm going to attempt to retell the story of last Tuesday.
My friend and I get there at 2:30 as was stated by the radio station. We wind up waiting 45 minutes outside of the House of Blues in the terrible FL heat. They bring us in finally and upstairs to a balcony that they have right above the entrance of the HOB. The band was already sitting there waiting. It was a nice intimate performance, maybe 30 people in the place on couches and chairs. The band did 3 songs, all new, which sorta sucked. I figured they would have done at least a half hour. But it was free so I can't complain.
Then we all got to stand in line and meet the band. Dan didn't really say much, just thanked us for coming. Matt said "Wow, Great Shirt!" as he was shaking my hand when he saw my Bad Religion "No Control" t-shirt. So I got to talk to him for a quick minute about how great that album is. So that is now the 2nd time I've met a band while wearing that shirt (Less Than Jake was the first for those who care) and the 2nd time I wound up talking to them about that album lol. Derek was also quiet and thanked us for coming.
We were out of there by 3:45 so we had a few hours to kill until the 6:00 doors and 7:00 starting time. So my friend and I wandered around Downtown Disney (both the West Side and the Marketplace). She had a great time playing with the toys in the HUGE toy store they have, looking through CDs and whatnot. I was just sorta sad. First off because she's leaving on the first of August to go to California for Grad School. Secondly because she kept mentioning some guy she's "just seeing, not dating" whatever that means. It just made me sad that we were there together but not "together."
So we go to the show finally after dinner and stuff. Death By Stereo opened up and were really good. They've gotten a lot more metal over the years. They didn't do the one song I really wanted to hear, Desperation Train. Then Rise Against were up and EVERYONE went insane and knew like every word. Once again they didn't do the one song I REALLY wanted to hear, Six Ways Til Sunday.
Alkaline Trio finally went on and the whole crowd went crazy. They did a good mix of new and old songs but perhaps too good of a mix cuz I only recognized about half the songs. I only have their last 3 albums which I don't really have memorized in the first place. So sometimes it would be halfway through the song before I realized which one it was. As for the older songs I was completely lost other than when they did Radio. They came back for the encore (my friend HATES encores) and they did Nose Over Tail and 97 and she went absolutely nuts. I made fun of her because she hated encores yet said the encore was the best part of the show lol.
I almost got into a fight with some douchebag early on. I was standing on the edge of the pit and was doing the normal job of catching people, giving them a little shove back in, etc. Then I feel some guy pushing me from behind trying to get me into the pit. He did it twice and I gave him a dirty look and he said something about "don't get all bent out of shape." So I told him "Then don't fucking try and push me into the pit when I don't want to go." And he said something about "There's not supposed to be violence here." And I said "Then don't put your fucking hands on me." I was trying to brush it off but he wouldn't shut up and was being a smart ass about it and came up and put his arm around me and wanted me to do the stupid devil horns thing. So I told him to get his fucking hands off of me. He finally got the message and walked away. I didn't wind up seeing him for the rest of the night.
I was just a little sick of taking people's shit at shows. When the song ended, the guy standing next to me told me that what the kid was doing was unnecessary and that he was an asshole. I'm just not gonna take people's shit anymore.
So that's the story of last Tuesday. I was gonna post a lot sooner but I typed this whole thing out and then accidentally closed the window and didn't feel like re-doing it til just now.
*Edit*
Finally got it to fit in the window, yay.
