last saturday i met, against my better judgment, a big goofy white boy with NO HAIR at a party my friends band was playing at. i had no interest in this guy and he kept coming to talk to me, just trying so damned hard and i just kept being so not interested...
so what happened? he took me to see corpse bride on sunday (no, i still hadn't seen it ~ i am such a loser) afternoon, and i strangely didn't make it home until monday morning
and then he picked me up after he got off work on monday (he has a job! holy crap!) and i didn't make it home until tuesday morning he picked me up last night after work...nope didn't make it home till this morning and he'll be picking me up from work tonight, and no, i will not be home tonight...or tomorrow night

If I were you, I'd just show your boy the site, and the PSW group(or wherever you planned on posting the set) and tell him how much they've inspired you, and that you met a cool chick who's not bad with a camera, who is not only on the site, but the group moderator(if you want to post in PSW), and a neighbor. Then tell him he can stay and watch and be my whipping boy when I need lights moved and such. If that doesn't work, I don't know what will. Thats pretty much how I convinced Derek to be cool with me doing PSW, and eventually bad ass betties.
