With Valentine's Day come and gone, I reflect on my favorite part of the holiday. The sex.
If you enjoy ANY other part of Valentine's Day above and beyond the Valentine's Booty, you're either delusional, on drugs, insane, kidding yourself, or any combination thereof. The sex is, by far, the best part of the dinner/flowers/candy tradition.
Dinner/Flowers/Candy = Guilt
Guilt+Dinner/Flowers/Candy = SEX!!!!
Its simple math.
So in a pseudo-tradition on this holiest of banging holidays, I give you a survey I found in a magazine that horribly nagged at me in a "look at me, I'm interesting" sort of way. Which it was. Interesting, not nagging. Enjoy, and happy Valentine's Day. (Belated.)

"How We Have Sex Now"
A survey was conducted over the internet, and these 1,738 randomly selected responses reflect both men and women, ages 21 to 49. Limited demographic data was also collected.
- Single men in monogamous relationships have a lot more sex than married men (4.5 versus 2.7 times per week, a difference of 66%). The more money they make, the more sex they have. But the men that have sex more than 15 times per week tend to earn slightly less than $100,000
- The average number of dates before sex? 3 for men, 5 for women. However, 14% of men said they waited until marriage for sex, while only 9% of women did.
- Average number of sexual partners? 14 for men, 11 for women. 40% of both said they have had fewer than five partners, while 10% of men and 5% of women had more than fifty.
- Sacrafice sleeping for sex? 61% of women said they would rather sleep, while 65% of men said they'd rather lose sleep.
- 32% of men claim to want more anal sex. Only 6% of women agree. Thats the biggest disparity of any act in the survey.
- MOST favorite sexual position? For women, missionary (31%) followed by doggy style (27%). For men, doggy style (31%) followed by woman on top (29%). The LEAST favorite? For women is reverse cowgirl (2%) and for men is tied with reverse cowgirl and spooning (5%).
- FUNNY FACT: Republican men prefer the woman on top. Democrats like it doggy style. No numerical statistics were provided.
- Republicans use text messaging more often than Democrats to initiate sex. No numerical statistic was provided.
- Republicans prefer their partners pubic grooming to be all natural, while Democrats prefer a slight trim. Again, no percentages were provided.
- 1 in 4 men say that HIV is their biggest fear when having sex with a new partner. Yet roughly the same percentage say they never use a condom the first time with a new partner.
Interesting statistics in the "Does she engage in..." category. The sexual acts listed are followed by three numbers. The first is the percentage of women that answered yes. The second is the percentage of women that claim to "enjoy it a little" while the third "enjoy it a lot."
- Receiving oral sex: 90/26/71
- Giving oral sex: 89/44/43
- Dirty talk: 79/55/38
- Watching partner mastrubate: 56/49/41
- Phone sex: 42/61/26
- Anal sex: 42/51/19
- Role playing: 41/60/33
- Sex in public places: 40/58/34
- Light bondage: 34/48/47
- Videotaping/photographing sex: 21/56/26
- S and M: 14/64/24
- Same sex encounters: 14/38/50
She's done it or She's willing to try:
- A threesome: 12%/18%
- Sex on an airplane: 4%/35%
- An orgy: 3%/13%
- 14% of men and 11% of women say they met their current sex partners online. Thats more than bars, parties, and dating services combined.
- 80% of women and 66% of men claim to be in a monogamous relationship. 49% of dating men and 34% of dating women would consider cheating on their partners. 47% of married men and 35% of married women would also consider it.
- "Women are more likely to let it all go." 16% of women in their 20s consider their pubic grooming to be "all natural." So do 25% of women in their 30s and 45% of women in their 40s. What do men like in women? 55% want it trimmed, 24% want it all gone, and 22% like it all natural.
- "What women want men to do..." 50% trimmed, 45% all natural, and 4% want it all off. What do men actually do? 55% go all natural, 40% trim, and 4% take it all off.
- What is the most powerful aphrodisiac? Looks? 38% men, 17% women. Wealth? 5% men, 2% women. Power? 4% men, 6% women. Wit? 11% men, 15% women. Intelligence? 17% men, 18% women. Kindness? 26% men, 43% women. Looks are most important to women in their 20s and least important to women in their 40s. Intelligence in a partner is least important to a married woman and women who earn $100,000 or more. Men who earn more than $100,000 care more about a partners looks than men that do not.
