A sad Weekend Departure
The weekend saw a sad departure, a taking leave that had long been expected but was none the less painful when it happened, that followed a long period of decline and suffering. A departure that bought tears to my eyes.
No I am not talking about the fucking Pope.I mean Stockport Countys' sad departure this weekend from League One down to League Two.We were playing Brentford, who beat us 2-1 with a goal (of course) with a mere two minutes to go. Talk about rubbing salt into a wound. To be honest, nothing more could be have been expected of the makeshift team of youngsters who were playing, the oldest of whom was 23 and three of whom I didn't recognise because they hadn't been in the last County home game. They tried their best, and did well to keep the score down to 2-1.
Our goal came courtesy of one of the most bizarre penalties I have ever seen. The ball was in Brentfords' penalty area, but was nowhere near any County players, when for no reason wahtsoever one of the Brentford players pushed a County player in the back so hard he fell in a heap. I was absolutely gobsmacked with amazement. Thank you to that player, he must've felt sorry for us.
After the game the team got applauded off the field-we even got a bit of applause from one of the Brentford players-but the Board and Chairman got the same volleys of abuse that had been directed at them the whole game, for ruining the club. A group of supporters got to the touchline with a "Thanks for nothing Kennedy" banner but were hustled away by Police. Outside, the demonstrations continued outside the Directors' suite, some people managed to break in but were ejected. A small cordon of Police was involved in some minor scuffling with the infuriated fans but in the end a stand off resulted in the devastated fans drifting slowly away.

It's just that kinda period right now.
And also I think I'll have too clean my bedroom a bit. I think that could have something to do with it as well.
Sigh.
