Chips With Everything,Saturday 29-the man with the cravat.
I met up with Neil from Propertop, the excellent Stockport webzine, and his mates at Cord in Manchester. We were sat next to two funny and very affable women, but the star of the show was undoubtedly the man stood opposite, who was wearing a pink shirt, white chinos and a pale beige cravat. He looked a little bit like Christopher Biggins with more hair.
Two pints of Hoegarden later saw us wobbling down the road to Charlies, the same Harter Street venue where Club Suicide used to be held.It is just as well that I met up with Neil, because I was under the impression that the club was upstairs at the Thompsons Arms-so I would have gone upstairs in the dodgiest gay pub in Manchester-on my own.I am sure my solo status would not have lasted long though.
The evening got off to a slow start but by eleven, the club was full. And there, stood with a group of friends was the girl I had got on so well with last Chips-Emma. So I waltzed over with a big smile,we had a big hug and Emma said- "Do I recognise you from somewhere?"-she was obviously even drunker than I thought last time.Anyway, after a bit of a hug and a kiss, and having my bum pinched, I found out her folks live in Whitefield but that she has now moved to SWANSEA.She went back to join her mates, but before the evening was over I slipped her a little piece of paper with my number on it,which I will be suprised if she ever uses. What a lovely girl though.
Back to the music. The "Live Act" was introduced as an "Icelandic Rapper"-Icelandic my foot,he souds as if Oldham is the closest he has ever been to Iceland-who was very funny and certainly provided a welcome distraction from Emma.
I also had my arse felt by ANOTHER woman. She was cute but I was more taken by Emma so didn't pay much attention, even though I enjoyed it.
