The Calendar of Reason
Working my way through my guide to Paris,which of course has a section on the French Revolution, I read about the revolutionaries' plans for the calendar, which were put into operation in 1792.
1792 was year One.The twelve months of the year were named after the natural phemomena/seasons for that month,and weeks were altered to consist of ten days,three of course per month.The five remaining days of the year were called "Virtue","Genius" etc. This was the calendar of reason, and a damn good idea in principle.
The only thing that worried me slightly is the idea that some mean bastard would no doubt have insisted that we only get two days off each week.

heehee... do you like FANNY PACKS? heehee! i know alot of people in Europe actually have fashionable fanny packs... while the fanny packs here in the United States are awful and for Michiganders
