God I "Love" the boys in blue. The fine UK Police Constabulary!

My gorgeous friend Leanne was assaulted by an ex-colleague of hers (and mine)
He is a rather large and rounded bloke and she is 5 foot fuck all.
He took a mallet (used to hammer the tent pegs into the ground) Said " You deserve to die" and assaulted her! Hitting her 5 times in the head with the mallet, splitting her head in 2 places, which needed to be glued shut.
Statements were given by all witnesses and it was left in the hands of the Police. when they hadn't heard anything for 3 days they called up and were politely informed that they let him go. He got given a Police caution and released. since it was his first offence!
How fucked up is that! What do you have to do to get prosecuted these days? It's no wonder that British society is degenerating and people take things into there own hands!
It does do one thing though, It explains why the violent crime rate in the UK is falling. Firstly they are not prosicuting them so they don't become a crime statistic and secondly people see how the police treat the victims and what they do to investigate reported crimes and insure that the criminal is caught and justice gets done! So they end up not reporting it.

Now that I've got that off my chest
on a more personal level, my life is doing pretty good for a change. I survived the latest round of redundancies at GW (I lost a number of good friends and colleagues this time 
)
and I had a good appraisal with my boss which lead to a nice surprise in my Pay review. With Eavy Metal finally getting the respect and recognition within the Design Studio that I believe is LONG over due!
Also, At the end of July, I'm getting to full fill a long term dream of mine and I'll be flying out to the Windy City. I'm flying out on the Thursday, I've got the Friday to meet the GW US staff, catch up on jet lag and have a little tour round. Working the Games Day on the Saturday, I'm really looking forward to this as I've worked the UK GD for the last 8 years and I'm keen to see the differences between the 2 and hopefully get a bit more time to spend chatting with the customers, answering their questions and queries. Showing off all the cool shiny toys that we've brought with us.
I'm then taking a few days holiday and staying on in Chicago. I'm hoping to maybe catch a few of the sites, do a bit of shopping (ok a lot of shopping
) , do a bit of the tourist thing and take a whole buch of photo's, both holiday snaps (so I can remember my trip easily) and arty farty ones to see what a can come up with, creating some more unusual views of the City
