You're an awesome character artist.
Also, it was a pleasure meeting you as well. I hope you'll make it out to the next one!

Little hole in the drywall from the water in the bathroom above. Just a little one... So it's time to get the patching compound out and fix it.

Not so fast, bubbah. The hole was just part of a mostly rotten piece of drywall, eaten from the back towards the front. And nailed to a 2x4 that was rotted, supporting a beam that was no...

It finally arrived! This is sweet-- you sent along the sketch! Thank you! The figure drawing is extra nice.

Dude-- all that dancing must have made that bear so skinny-- his fur is practically hanging off of him! I've heard of dancing bears, but that guy takes the cake.

Cool, mail! Woot!

Life isn't easy.

I have a boy with brain damage. They thought he had Muscular Dystrophy, but have ruled that out. After three and a half years of tests, MRIs, biopsies, and countless doctor visits, and nearly $20k out of pocket last year alone, we're quitting trying to find out what's going on. Let him be a boy, not a science project. Some things can't...

I love your attitude toward your son, and I salute you. I know that having a dad that gets it makes the difficult times that much easier for him. Bravo.

How old is he?

I do know (and I'm sure you do as well) that sometimes not getting what you want only means that there is something much better out there that you haven't considered yet. In the end, the little frustrations can pile up, but it isn't about colleges and GPAs; it's about integrity, sincerity and living the kind of life that will make you smile once you go senile and have to live in your own memory all the time.

City College or Berkeley . . . we won't care when we're 96.

p.s. My cousin went to both of those schools, and thought he got better instruction at City College, where you pay $17.00 per credit hour. Yes, seventeen.

My father is successful, but on his terms, and he has taught me that the list of What Is Best In Life doesn't include wealth, status or power.

I remember when I left school, I was terrified that he'd be furious, but in a way, he was proud. It confused me, but later I realized that he was proud that I was doing my own thing, and was my own man.

I agree with you about the getting the job issue, I just don't think that "the job" is the be-all / end-all of life. I know that you don't either (clearly), but I just thought I'd put it out there.

Poker night. What a fucking disaster.

I pull up two pair 10, Q, Ace kicker. Guy pulls up pocket 6's and a 6 on the river. HE FUCKING STAYS IN WITH A DAMN PAIR OF 6's with NOTHING LOWER THAN AN 8 SHOWING, and gets it on the RIVER. DAMN.

I got a full house J, 6. Guy gets full house J, 8.

I get...

Next time I plan to give a lot more notice when I do an open invite to coffee...like at least a few days.

As for the art night thing...I can't draw worth a damn and am too bashful for posing, so I'll leave that to Debra who is both an artist and has modelled for such things before. smile
cereal_killer:
man, sounds like one shitty poker night to me. i'm still trying to get some of the people i know down here together to have one, but things keep coming up and preventing it.

Artistic funks suck. The worst place to be is with an open piece of paper and no inspiration. (I guess that describes a lot of lives, doesn't it?)

I am actively searching for a location to have a montly SG drawing group here in Atlanta. Anyone know of a space, please let me know. In the meanwhile, I'm using my contacts to try to fish...

Oh no, the peanuts are going down the shorts . . . for safety!

I've met 3J IRL before, and reccomend the experience highly. He's interesting, and he'll buy you dinner. smile

Artistic funks are no fun. For me, doing really physical stuff usually cracks the creative ice; I run hill sprints or do karate or something.

A monthly drawing group would be so much fun! Is ATL the kind of city where you could draw in the parks?
cklarock:
You are the guy on the right? Damn, you're skinny!

What if you built up a drawing of a model, and then cartooned all over her?

Met my first SG folk tonight, katfireblade and wyspurr. And they met me. Neither of them, nor I had any fangs, though I did appear suspiciously like a normal person, I think. They gave me some advice.

a) Be more fucking assertive.
b) Don't come across so fucking nervous online.
c) Be more fucking assertive.

Maybe I missed a point here or there, but...

hey man. just dropping by to say hi. I live out in snellville so if you ever want to grab a beer.....hmmm the DNC makes you sad? Why?

Ah, unfortunately, I only have a very limited supply of super adorable pictures of little kids in front of abstract paintings.

Tree frog commandos? Hell, I've got those for days.

Hey. Long time no update... what? a bbit over 20 days.

Not much to write, watching time go by.

Watched "Raising Helen" last night. Just another forgettable movie that proves once again how out of touch Hollywood is with reality. Making a comedy out of three orphans and a bad situation? What a great drama it could have been. A total bummer for everyone.

Neverland....

Do you know anyone that can play a banjo??
thelastbeliever:
Yeah it looks kinda tough. Never even picked one up myself. I just play the usual shit as you may have guessed. Guitar amongst other things.

I'll put it to the guys. It looks like this might turn out to be the biggest Uber band in the world. biggrin

I needed to do something new. So I got a banjo. And learnt it.

Gad, I love to play the banjo. Now, listening to bluegrass, sometimes that's tough.

Then there's Bad Livers. Found them on iMusic. Hogs on the Highway, Delusions of Banjeur. These boys don't take themselves all that seriously.

Everyone needs a banjo.

"Open-minded people. Liars."

What does this mean to you? How do you read it first time you see it?

How many kings and queens of superficiality do there have to be? An inch f***ing deep and a mile wide seems to be the norm, not the exception. People standing around saying "Woe to me, no one understands, I'm a nice guy/girl." So what? Nice guys...
