The moving truck came for the neighbor today. No sign out in front of the house, and it only took about an hour to get the furniture in.

Someone's dad moved out. Someone's husband is gone. So much work to fall in love, but they forgot to stay in love. The years behind them that could have been spent living a different life.

So sad.
severus:
It is too much work to stay in love for most people these days it seems. Too bad for romantics like myself.
roaring_tulips:
Love is tough work.

My husband used to do that. LOL

I can draw! Oh boy, can I draw!

Whoo hoo. It's by chance I can do this- chance and desire, which leads to lots of drawing, which cycles to make better art. I am what I am because this is me.

It's what I choose to do with what I can do that makes my life. Do I relentlessly give myself away, or, like a...

First impressions are strange things.

You have a tattoo. You're obviously emotionally troubled, self centered, and not quite knowing what life is about. I'm grey haired and have a nice car and kids in college, so I must be well off, career oriented, and not quite knowing what life is about. This is a "porn" site, so we must all be serious perverts. You're a...

I agree with you on the pigeonholing.

I don't think I'd look as good with grey hair as you do. smile

I'm driving an old Mercedes these days. Kind of a fun car, I suppose. If anyone asks, the difference between a hedgehog and a Mercedes is the hedgehog has the pricks on the outside.

I definitely have been gone too long. All my friends are gone.

Severe artists' block right now. It needs to stop... quick.
cklarock:
It's a knitting dragon! It looks so bummed, though!

Do you have any cool tricks for artist's block? Here's one I learned for writer's block that might work: write the alphabet (by hand, natch). After a couple loops, your brain will get bored enough to start barfing up creativity again.

Are you illustrating your own ideas or other people's?
cklarock:
"Draw other people's ideas? What's the fun of THAT?"

Hahahaha, that's my job in a nutshell, although for the most part, I don't mind. Usually, I'm just designing to their taste, and the meat of it has to be left to me (because if they could do it, they wouldn't have called me).

I've been volunteering at Children's Hospital for years. Sometimes you see some really neat stuff, really great stories. I mostly work with older kids, 5-17, drawing cartoons and clowning around with them. I try to make them forget they're in a hospital at least for a little while.

Last time was a downer. This sweet, sweet baby... Her face lit up whenever someone new would...

Life sure seems like the continual job of discovering what and who to trust. To continue to love despite the betrayals is a really hard lesson, and seems to get harder the older one gets. Or perhaps the scars just accumulate.

I don't know, I think that you can also cull the wheat from the chaff with your loved ones, and find people worthy of your trust. A wise man once told me, "life comes down to who you choose to hang around with." But a lot of us who are traumatized at some level just become hyper-sensitive and set unrealistic boundaries for our loved ones. I mean, lies are lies, and bad is bad, but the small ways in which otherwise loving people neglect us aren't worth sweating. That's my $.02. For me, getting myself to a place where I felt self-sufficient meant that I didn't really *need* things from others, and therefore wasn't as vulnerable to hurt/rejection.

Re: the little sweetie, it must be heart-rending. I can imagine the rush of protectiveness and care you must feel. She's a strong, powerful little soul with lots to teach.

So long as she doesn't play for El Tricolor, then yeah!

Looooonnnnng time.

I actually forgot I was a member. Lots happened. Tons of work, way lots of opportunity, moving ahead in life.

Was thinking about, heck, what was I thinking about that made me remember Suicidegirls? I think it my favorite models that I've used for work... friends I met here.

So why did I go? Too little time to spend on the people I...

Went up to see the Gardner Museum in Boston. Renior's self portrait, and four John Singer Sergeant pieces, plus Italian masters, sketches by so many, a piece of Winslow Homer's that's just incredible... The collection is so amazing, and to think one wealthy individual could collect so many masterpieces!

So inspirational.

OK, I'm back. Great vacation to Maine, heck of a great time on the coast. Killed some lobsters, felt like knocking off a couple of the kids, but everyone's home and happy.

Refrigerator decided as long as we were going to go on vacation it would take some time off, too. Smelled like a petri dish when we got back last night.

Yummy yummy.

y'know, i think maybe most artists don't like other artists, for exactly that reason... we might like to be the only ones in a given radius that do the things we do.
east of eden, huh? on my reading list. which is convenient, because i have my cake-in-the-conference-room party in a few weeks because i'm leaving my job, and our unimaginative director always gives certificates for the bookstore! smile

My kid had a school project, and needed an Oscar. A fish Oscar. Promised it would find a good home with another student. Promised it wouldn't come home again. Promised she wouldn't kill it.

Sucker that I am, I let her get it.

$500 later we now have an aquarium big enough for it and a friend. People telling me, "It's only an $8 fish,...

yeah, i was very busy the past few months finishing my portfolio. and i should stay somewhat busy looking for a job! but as the rest of the crew can attest, its not that hard to tempt me out. i'll touch base with you when i get back from seattle.

the new battlestar galactica is amazing... they replaced the mormon stuff with references to ancient greek mythology--which i guess could be cheesy, but i really think it works.

and let me know about modelling, i'm available whenever.
