So I've contemplated getting various tattoos for 3 or 4 years now. As usual I always become stuck rather quickly after imagining all manner of tattoos in various places and of various sizes. Truthfully I always come to the same conclusion, if I don't where I want to have a tattoo I can't then decide on what to put there. I have one or two ideas, but I don't know whether to play it safe or fall prey to temptation but, seeing as most of the wonderful people on this website have at least one, I think it's safe to assume that everyone here knows what they're talking about.
So let's begin with ideas or inspiration for my tattoos: I am a huge lover of Tolkien, every house that I have lived in has been named after a town or name in Middle Earth. I especially love The Lord of the Rings, books, films, soundtrack, figures the lot! One of the things that seems least unique and I'm sure has been tried and tested is the inscription on the ring of power.
Then the problem arises, what do I then do with this writing? Have it as a band around my ankle? Put it on my forearm? And then what colour should the font be? should I incorporate another aspect for example have the writing circling around the White Tree of Gondor (my house is called Osgiliath and I feel that makes me an honoury Gondorian)
But again it throws up problems.
Alternatively I would quite like to get a tattoo related to my favourite anime film, Princess Mononoke. But which character do I then get???
Am I over thinking this? I could really uses some advice and/or Inspiration
