Yikes! So my first tat is to be a swallow (or martin from my neck of the woods) cuz i've got my 5,000 miles under sail. The swallow will carry a banner that says 'Ruby' because she was one of the most important women in my life and she passed away while I was getting those 5,000. I'll always miss her, but always carry her memory. That was 2 years ago; last year just after the same trip down Baja, my wife miscarried our first child after 6 months. Her name would have been Ezmerelda, after Ruby. This year before I prepare to make the same sail down Baja, Ruby's sister, Myra, dies. I need my swallow now more than ever! No wonder sailors are so superstitious!
