I chose my current profession so that I wouldn't have to speak on the phone. I hated the constant negotiations of office phone work. And everytime I hung up the receiver I would turn to my co-workers and say something nasty. And the people on the other line would do the same to me. And all across the city there would be people picking up and hanging up and turning and saying something petty.

I hate it when the phone rings at work and the children all straighten their necks like gophers and peer at the telephone. I hate it when the phone rings and they don't notice at all. I wish I could take all the cords and lines and cables and cut them up and make a giant bowl of telephone wire pasta. I wish everyone would write it in a note, or say it to my face.
