......I'm still exhausted......
Troll went in for a follow-up to decide what to do about the R leg on Oct 28th. We found 1 of the plates was actually exposed under a scab on the inner L ankle and (damn diabetes) he had a staph infection. They admitted him that day and went in & cleaned the site a few times over the next few days. But because of the infection they had to go in and remove tissue and muscle and some bone and he underwent a 12hr skin graph surgery...
He went to a rehab center (at least this one was 20 mins from our work and 1 hr from home) to finish his antibiotics...so he missed Halloween w/ our son...he missed his Mom's b-day (11/10)...he spent his b-day (11/18) in the rehab...he spent Thanksgiving in there (I drove to my Dad's to pick up dinner for us)...he spent my b-day (12/4) in there...he came home the day after his Dad's b-day (12/12)...at least we spent our wedding anniversary together (12/19)...same day as my Dad's b-day...
Day before x-mas eve he started getting drainage from the flap site that looked like the stuff from the staph infection...so x-mas eve we arranged for medical transport to take us to a local hospital...they did blood work & a culture...blood was ok...gave him antibiotics...we got home about 8-8:30pm...I had to wrap all the gifts still...but THANK GOD he was home for x-mas and didn't have to get shipped back to Baltimore...turns out he has a yeast infection...
We went yesterday to see his ortho surgeon...he said everything looked good...they actually took the external fixators off of that (the L) ankle and put him in a boot. He still has healing fractures in that leg/ankle but hey...gotta take what you can get...
Dr. Nascone is still trying to get the replacement specialist to go ahead and do the R knee...but he doesn't want to bc Troll is so young...so we're going to talk to him 1 last time and if he wont do it Dr. Nascone will find someone who will...Troll can't be sitting there w/ all these wounds and pin-sites w/ the diabetes...too much risk of infection...
So in the next few wks we should fig out what's going to happen next.....
We're supposed to have people over for New Years....the upstairs is a mess...I have to do a SPEED cleaning when I get home...I really just want to go to bed...I'm so F-ing tired...I've only been getting about 4 hrs sleep a night...Troll's schd is all out of whack...sooooooooooooo tired....
Well, HAPPY NEW YEARS peoples ! ! !
Hopefully this year will play out better than the last...
