After a couple days worth of frustration and anxiety and an acute lack of sleep, I think I have a plan. My girlfriend's passed her GREs and will start her doctorate program in the fall. She doesn't want to get a place together for a while, to make herself be social with the department and so forth, which is fine.
So it looks like I'm moving to Cinci, I'll just have to find a cheap place or someone in need of a roommate for a while. I've always put that city just above Detroit on my list of "worst cities to live in", but the truth is that it's not much shittier than here, or a number of other places I've been. Just the residual aura of some bad history and navigational nightmares there. But I know a few people there, and it's not so far from friends and family that I worry about getting in a bad spot. I've really got to be somewhere with a living art scene anyway.
If anyone from Cincinnati runs across this post, by all means PM me. I could use some advice on where shit is, or places for (cheap) rent, jobs, etc. New friends wouldn't hurt either.
