I am just now learning about gamergate. I enjoy games but I will admit I am not entrenched enough in video games to know exactly everything that is going on in the community. Regardless of that I did learn today about a lot of the disturbing threats that are going around towards women in that community who have tried to speak up. I find this very upsetting that boys who cower in the basements of their parents house are finding they have a sense of power with these threats. Women should not have to be treated this way simply for speaking up. This is absolutely unacceptable.
I hope people out there realize this is the same kind of disgusting behavior that goes on all over the world. That women in countries everywhere still are being beaten down physically, and emotionally for no reason other then they are a different sex. It is not something that women need to fight alone.
(I focused on what is happening with women because that was the focus of the gamergate article that I read. It seems only women are being treated this way concerning gamergate. I do understand that men, as well as other races also deal with horrendous things. This was just my feminist rant though)
