Everybody has his or her own little quirks and kinks. Though I may not always bring the subject up in polite company, I have a very solid appreciation for leather, latex and fishnets. Ah, let's call a spade a spade: since it brings me visual pleasure and I find it a bit of a turn-on, I guess you could call it a fetish.

It did not take me long to figure out the root of this particular kink. It is linked to my reading material when I was a kid - comic books. While the exact composition of the outfits super-heroines wear may vary, to me the coolest characters were those wearing leather, latex, or fishnets - or in some instances a combination of all three (technically we could throw bustiers and thigh-high boots in here as well, if we really want to dissect the composition of these outfits - I appreciate each of these as well). And while I quickly outgrew any attraction to the fictional characters as I entered my teens, my appreciation for the costumes they wear remained and was translated into the real world.

Virtually every time I see a woman wearing either of these three materials, my attention is seized and captured. My eye is drawn to the way the light shines and shimmers along the leather and latex or the way the fishnets both reveal and define the skin it captured. I would never go so far as to say the woman outfitted thusly is secondary to her outfit, since I need to appreciate the woman wearing it all as well. However, I readily admit that I will notice her all the more swiftly if her attire is one of leather, latex or fishnets.

So, what have I done about this particular fetish? Well, it is not something I get off on wearing (though I have worn a leather jacket and fishnet shirts to various Naughty and Nice parties and - oops, should not get ahead of myself here), it is something I like seeing girls wear. And it is not like these things are standard fare in Vancouver, though you do occasionally see someone dressed in a particularly Goth or kink way - and fishnets have come a long way to socially accepted in the past decade. Luckily, a city the size of Vancouver provide opportunities, and the various friends I have were able to point me towards a couple of them. It probably would not surprise you that both opportunities are linked to the local kink community and the events they frequent.

This brought me to an interesting conundrum. I like the outfits, but I do not have a huge fascination with the S&M world that they seem to represent. Okay, leather, latex and fishnets also intersect with the Goth community (linking nicely with my appreciation of tattoos, piercings and Suicide Girls), and for a while they were embarrassingly linked with what was dubbed "the Matrix look," but for the most part they seem to be most visibly linked to people into giving or receiving pain. Which brings me to Rascals, an event I visited and drank in the sites. The dress code was delicious, the various activities in the hall less so. Sure, some of what went on there was hot (buy me a drink and I will share the full details), but for the most part sitting at a table or entering the dungeon area where various instruments were used for doling out teasing or punishments was not really my thing. More my speed was the local Sin City events, centered much more around socialization and dancing than dungeon activity (though there is a dungeon there).

So, what role does all this play in my dating pursuits? Obviously, I'm not about to toss aside some great gal just because she is not into either of these things. But hey, hope springs eternal that somewhere out there is a pretty damn good match for me in pretty much every way, including this area. After all, everybody has there own quirks and kinks, and there is surely a suitable woman out there with this one as well.

Yeah, I figured I'd best get on it to maybe sway some of the fine people on the site to appreciate those things! Everyone here is usually so close-minded about all that smile

Still, this site may hold a more receptive audience for this particular topic than, say, christianity.com or something like.
