I think I'm going to stop participating in thread discussions. It seems like everything I say results in someone putting me down, trying to start a fight. I try to introduce myself, make myself known, and put in my opinion. I'm either ignored (which is fine) or snapped at. I think "online syndrome" is striking here - people are "anonymous" so they feel the need to be jerks. I've been very respectful of people, especially since my set isn't even up yet, so I don't want people to think that *I* think I know everything.
If people want to get to know me, they can message me privately, check out my myspace or whatever.
The focus of this site, in my mind, is the photos. Social networking is secondary. Sure, it would be nice to meet a few like-minded locals, but that's what the other sites are for.

Of course, I'm a bit subjective having been here since 2003. The dynamic has certainly changed significantly towards jerkish in the past couple years.
