Things I've learned while being in a pregnancy board debate group:
1) Women are perfectly okay with their spouses having affairs behind their backs as long as
a) the wife never finds out
b) the husband doesn't impregnant anyone or
c) bring home any STDs
The wife would rather live in fantasyland than admit to herself that there is something wrong with her marriage. Furthermore, women are perfectly okay with ANY (harmful) secrets in the marriage because honesty is not always the best policy.
2) Not letting your child have Facebook or any other social network account is okay if you don't want to spend the time to talk to your child about internet predators and you're too lazy to monitor your child's online activities. Just ignore the issue and it'll never happen to you!
3) It's perfectly okay to be a selfish self-serving asshole as long as you claim that's who you are as a person and you try to limit the hurtful things you do. It's okay, though, if you can't control yourself. Just feel guilty about it and you are absolved of any wrongdoing! And *try* not to do it again, but if you do, it's okay as long as you recognize you're an asshole and you feel guilty.
4) It is also perfectly okay to leave your infant/toddler in the car to die for 6-8 hours in the sweltering heat or freezing cold because there is science behind why you would "forget" your kid in the car! (Main reason is that your routine has changed). It is also okay to leave your sleeping child in the car in said conditions because it's just more convenient for the parent to "run in real quick" to run their errand and thus forgetting their said child is in the car and leaving them to die. You will NOT be charged with your child's death because of said science that backs up why you do this and because you'll feel really, really guilty. Your child's death is punishment enough!
