Blondie has started to mellow out. But she's not ready to meet the new cat face to face.

Since Beauty finally used the litter box today, I had Blondie sniff out our bedroom (since that's where Beauty is staying) and Beauty's litter box. Blondie is getting familiar with Beauty's scent but accidentally caught a glimpse of her. Blondie just layed down in that alert position. I put Beauty away and let Blondie come out on her own. When she did, she went straight to one of her sleeping places. She batted me away. Didn't use her claws. I did some light kitchen chores around her and then before I left, she let me rub her head for a few seconds before she batted me away again. Her eyes are not wild with pissy offness. She's remaining slightly calm.

I'm giving Blondie lots of space. I think later on today (maybe when the kids go to bed), I'll switch rooms with the cats again (Blondie in our bedroom to sniff around and Beauty wandering in the rest of the apartment). That seemed most promising. I think in a week I'll try having them face each other. See how Blondie reacts after Beauty's scent has been here longer.
