Here is a quick update.
WE GOT A CAR!!! Its a 2002 Buick Rendezvous. It only came with 67,000 miles. That's 7,500 miles per yr for 9 yrs. We went through Drive Time because they worked with us with John's credit. Basically, they determine your down payment and monthly payment via credit and income. They report your payments to the credit bureaus so you can build up your credit through them too. They let us put down however much we wanted for the down payment as long as it was the minimum. So when we told them we had $3000 to put down, they were like "Okay this is where that would put you" instead "If you expect us to work with you, you have to put down $4000-$5000 and you'll deal with the car payment we give you." They were awesome people. No pressure or anything.
After the car people, we went to the 4bd apt that we want and guess what? They have a 4bd available for Feb 28th!! So tomorrow we're going back first thing in the morning to pay the security deposits and sign the leases and all that jazz. If everything goes well, our moving date will be Feb 28th
