Blizzard decided that in order to run instances, you have to meet an iLvl requirement. That's not so bad except for one tiny little detail. They count the items in your BAG towards your iLvl requirement regardless or not they qualify for your spec. Right now I'm trying to get my holy pally geared to run heroics. She has all blues except for 2 greens. I was ONE point away from meeting the iLvl requirement until I sold gear from my bags that I don't need anymore. Now I'm TWO points away (where I started) from running heroics >.< WTG BLIZZARD!

That does seem pretty unnecessary. I can only how that would apply if somehow the gear provides XP for your level. I've never even heard of an RPG that does that though.
