A lot of good things coming up this month. I'm getting my half-sleeve (started? completed?) this upcoming Thursday. Seeing Wicked for my moms bday on the 7th, then ren fest with my humongous dream ren fest gown that following weekend, then seeing the in laws in another 2 weeks from then. A lot to get me through the tough times.

Weight watchers has been going...

Definitely a lot of good things coming up this month for you. Hopefully the next weight watchers meeting has a better crowd than this one.

I've been slowly exploring and learning parts of NYC over the past couple years but I have barely scratched the surface. The first few weeks are definitely going to be a bit of an adventure for me - working right in the center of the financial district is going to be a huge change of pace compared to working in the next town over. Hopefully it all ends up working out well and I enjoy my time over there.

That sounds like a busy month. That meeting sounds like a soap opera scene, did it turn out someone was sleeping with their____. Don't forget excerise, that works for weight loss too.

Going on a Lana del Ray Kick... her spoken words at the end of "Ride" were beautiful:

"Every night I used to pray that Id find my people, and finally I did on the open road.
We had nothing to lose, nothing to gain, nothing we desired anymore, except to make our lives into a work of art.
Live fast. Die young. Be wild. And...

Hello 2013! This year will be wonderful because I will make it so. My resolutions are:
1. get fit for my wedding
2. learn a little Spanish
3. be less depressed/angry and be grateful for what I have

In other news, I am so sick right now, fighting off a cold. Congestion, body aches, sniffles, coughing... I had to call in sick to work today,...

in the past 2 weeks, i have finished my job with CVS, flew to Atlanta for a friend halloween wedding, explored downtown (coke world, georgia aquarium) and ate Gladys Knights Chicken and Waffles, and have spent time with my high school buddies. This Saturday I'll be starting with my dream company, Publix. In the meantime, I am starting my healthy routine with exercising (ie,walking/jogging) 3...

I appreciate your advice... yeah, i decided sometimes you can't have everything. no one has a perfect life. i have a great job, a great degree, a fiancee and im near family. thats more than many others, so i should just be thankful and continue to live and see where time takes me.

When I was 17, I worked at Albertson's, a grocery store, in their pharmacy. I witnessed the glory of pharmacy, where the pharmacist was like the community doctor and she had a genuine relationship with her patients.

When I got into pharmacy school, Albertson's dissolved and I was offered an internship with one company in Gainesville: CVS. I took it, it was the best I...

Congratulations!!!! biggrin

Awesome news and great to hear that you will soon be working somewhere where you can really use your degree and make a difference in your patients' lives.

On whim the other night I applied for a pharmacist position and the company I really wanted to work for but there were never any openings. It's a grocery chain called Publix. I have died to work there for so long because I decided to become a pharmacist because of the way I felt while working as a tech at Albertson's Pharmacy (another grocery chain)....

Guuuuurl, you got this!!! And my degree will be in Biology. The further along in it I go, the more I know it's for me. Science has always been my passion, and although I have no immediate plans to use my degree, it's purely because I just don't know what direction I want to go in with it. It just feels good to finally know where I want to go.
bendingunit23:
Good luck on the interview, I guess it's about now. 5 years was a good run with the current company, it's longer than I've ever worked at one place.

I need to find myself a religion, something to believe in and hope for. Because my life feels so unreal, like a dream. i need to feel like i own myself, because i don't right now.

i need calm, music, self-control, understanding, and just peace within. its so hard to find. i hate where i am. i hate florida, i cant deny it. it just...

It's hard to not work at least some holidays if you're a practicing pharmacist but when you get all of them because you're new it's not good. If you worked in a non practicing role then it's much easier to get holidays off.

A lot of the chains are really putting profits before people and it annoys me to see them doing that. The supermarket and mass merchant pharmacies can be better because they've got less volume (they do have a few stores that are the rare exception and can have high volume though) and since they're not running the pharmacy as a profit center they are more reasonable with technician hours. It's something to look into if you haven't already and you're looking to keep practicing.

yep. When I'm eighty, if I get there, it's going to be no dessert left behind. Until then, I have to fight the scale.

Paleo Week 4 Update

Ok, so I have been doing this for a month now. Have I been sticking to it 100%? No. I live in America, do you know how hard it is to get foods without grains/carbs, especially if you dine out? BUT I have maintained my 5 lb weight loss, which is fucking sweet. I can definitely do another 10 by the...

Paleo Week #3.5 Update

Okay, I'm not going to bullshit you, I'm into this Paleo thing about 85%. I do indulge in chocolate every once in a while or if I go out, I'll have a burrito with a four tortilla and sour cream. But for the most part, I eat what I am intended to eat. I did have a bit of fun friday...

cheating is to be expected. My high school teacher once told me for every beer he drank he'd run a mile the next day. It's all how you handle it.

Two things I didn't mention that relate to the statistics from my school are that the NJ community pharmacist job market is oversaturated right now, plus I'm fairly certain that they ran the survey to get those numbers in March before many people had jobs secured. Historically community pharmacy has employed about 50% of each graduating class from my school. Now that the big three chains around here (Walgreens, CVS, and RiteAid) have stopped expanding and scaled back hiring quite a bit, fewer people are signing on with them so they're not employed or have gone elsewhere. Those numbers certainly aren't nice to see, but I imagine they're a lot better than people graduating from the university with bachelor's degrees in fields that aren't in demand right now.

Thursday, November 8 at noon. Check it. I'm getting tattooed. biggrinx1000!

I went in today to a beautiful shop and scheduled my future half-sleeve on my right arm (my first visible piece). Originally wanting it in black and grey, after seeing the incredible color my artist does, Im going to go with very antiqued colors. It will be things that I find insanely beautiful... ferris...

Paleo Week #2

So I have made it almost a whole week without bread/pasta/processed carbs and gluten! huzzah! for the most part, I eat an egg scramble for breakast (2-3 eggs with ham, peppers, and onions, maybe a sprinkle of shaved parmesan), then at work I eat 1/4 cup of nuts and dried cranberries and a cup of cherries/grapes with a Gatorade light, then for...

You know, I've straightened my hair ever since middle school when people made comments about how fluffy it is. My hair does not react well to chemicals and heat. It gets angry and split ends pop up the second the iron passes over it. Well, I went to a proper salon and got the manager to tell me how to keep my wavy hair naturally...

The trick to anything hair related is to know the right way to do something - though figuring it out can take a while. Really neat that you will have better looking hair with less work and less hassle compared to what you used to do.

I know at least a few of the girls I went to school with have been asked out by older male customers at the pharmacy. That put them into a very weird, awkward situation - like you said it's strange and isn't a good idea for many reasons. I think the best you can do is take it at face value as a compliment and hope he doesn't end up bothering you in the future about it.
druggist:
yeah, he called today and said "hi crystal, its richard."

"richard smith" (or w/e his name is, hipaa and all that jazz)
"ohhhhhh"
"so i wanted to know when we can go out? how about an early dinner tonight?"
"um, well, its actually against company policy, and though i am flattered, i would get fired, sorry"
"oh... ok. ok, then, bye."

it was really awkward. i hate being mean, but cmon!
