Well hi all,
Ive spent the last couple of days working from home cause the boss is away and i guess procrastinating a bit too.
Ive decided to go through my WHOLE music collection and weed out the things that i dont/ wont listen to anymore and sell/ give them away.
In the process ive rediscovered many records and cds that i havent listened to for many moons.(Just realised i have mini disks and tapes too)
It has been an enlightening experience, although kinda time consuming... and i think im going to have to pull an all nighter to get this site live for tomorrow.
Well from now on Ive decided to do a - music of the day, post or whatever... but not today. I want to let all the sounds sink in first.
I remember reading a book quite a while ago (I think it was More brilliant than the sun - Kowdo Eshun .. dont quote me tho) analysing the use of sampling in modern music.
The idea is that whenever you hear a song or a snippet of a song it triggers a memory reflex that recalls feelings, emotions, or even other sensory delights... such as smell etc from a previous listening experience.
Ive experienced quite a few of these in the last 2 days some good, some bad, some so vividly real that a photo wouldnt have triggered such accurate memories.
Anyone else feeling where im coming from?
I still havent decided on where to go on holidays yet....... but managed to make it to life drawing on monday and that was fun.
Well i better get to work.

I know exactly what you mean when it comes to going through music. I searched through all my collection when I moved and WOW......it brought back alot of memories. Some I wanted to forget but mostly ones I wanted to feel over and over again.
