I am what they call dog-tired.
Throughout the summer, the organization that I currently work for puts on free Thursday night concerts downtown. I started work at 9 a.m. and just finished about 20 minutes ago. That's 13 1/2 hours. Lots of walking, dragging, heavy lifting...I'm not going to be able to move tomorrow morning. Still, believe it or not, it is pretty fun. You get a real tangible sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. But I am sunburnt and filthy.
Tonight, the band was Maroon 5. Not bad...didn't blow me away, but didn't offend me, either. Next week, pop-soul "legend" Brenton Wood ("Gimme Little Sign," "the Oogum Boogum Song"). That oughta be fun.

So last night I heard the Jayhawks "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" on a commercial for Ralph Lauren. I'm really torn with that kind of thing. I know how hard the Jayhawks struggle, and if getting some bucks from smelly stuff will help finance their work (or pay their rent), then why not, I guess. But goddamn, I DON'T want to think of cologne when I listen to them!!
