I considered going back and deleting a bunch of my old comments to ... you know ... cover some things up and hide stuff from people, I guess.

Eventually I decided that at some point you've just got to stand by the decisions you've made and be honest about them, you know? Besides, I've always been ready and willing to answer the "why?" question, even if it means admitting that I've made some bad decisions or have been shitty in the past. I'm always willing to admit that I've been wrong. Besides, there are few better ways to improve upon yourself than to look back and have to deal with choices you've made and the reasons you made them; it's the old "unexamined life" thing.

Seriously though, my old comments are fine -- maybe a little sappy or hopeful sometimes, but I have decided that I can live with that.

I suppose there exist people who are incapable of honesty as you and I (?) understand it, and then again there's that whole issue of the relationship between "Truth" and "objectivity." I suppose I should pick the infinite minds of the folks in the philosophy forum about that topic; I've had so much fantastic luck with internet philosophy forums in the past. I'd also be interested to hear what any one who sees this very post has to say, so post away, you damned voyeurs! Think of it as a koan -- specifically the one that goes: "if a tree falls in the woods..."

If something happens which nobody is aware of (or which everyone forgets about, or they don't have access to that information anymore, etc.) did it really happen? Hasn't this problem manifested itself throughout history a thousand times over? Omit one little detail and in a hundred years or less it's like it never was. That's politics, and I hate politics and politicians; they use lies to cover up the truth. Artists use lies to reveal it.
