back to the DJ debate:
..........so after all that couldn't figure out why(with the exception to the obvious(dress codes outrageous prices etc.)) people were (at least around here) bagging on the scene. These are often The "too cool for everything kids who are just as clueless as the other side.( playing 1 record at a time of 25-30 re-cycled crap dosen't make you independant or too cool for anthing except yourself)! But' alas thats not dj's thats the scene so back to the matter at hand! We went to check out Ozric Tentacles and there was some type of DJ set to open and I must say it was quite outstanding. after playing and cutting in various jazz and r&b cuts he mixed a bob marly and queen song! That blew me away! I've never heard anthing like it! even my friends agreed it was outstanding!
So well fast foward the the otherside of the coin. I went to molatov's last night for a usual few rounds of bourbon and they had a DJ come in! I normally would think nothing of it. Untill all these people started bagging on this kid. Until, he started playing songs they liked. Standing there spinning using 1 table at a time not mixing anything in or putting any remote sence of skill into it. Then the people who were just bagging on him were like all happy because he played a recognizable song? He could hace played my five favorite somgs in a row and he still would have sucked as a DJ! I can go to the $1 cd player and hear my favorite songs.
I guess i then realized where some of the dissention came in! some of these guys suck! butwait either they ary just learning or whatever but there are truly greay DJ's who bring fresh ideas to the scene. After all it should be about the music right?
it boils down to the stupid fucking people! ON BOTH SIDES! It cant be the music's of artists fault! So guit charging your rediclous collard shirt prices. And stop playing mother fuckin stupid 25yr old garbage while thinking you're better than everyone and concentrate on the artist and music not the mother-fuckin label
