Yeah, yeah, I know. I've been bad and not posted anything for two months. It's because I've been a busy little insect. My bands, 3-17 and Slow Djinn Fez continue to play around Reno. I seem to be averaging at least a couple of shows a month lately. If you're a local, or just happen to be passing by, I hope you'll try to catch one. 
Lately, I think I've noticed a trend, in that I've heard a number of bands playing some variety of trad-fusion music. There are my friends in Sol Jibe, who play flamenco fusion. There are Kanekoa, who play what they call "Hawaiian reggae fusion rock." Then there are The Ditty Bops, who play something like a contemporary folk-pop old-timey ragtime blend. And there is one of the bands I play in
, Slow Djinn Fez, which plays middle-eastern folk fusion. You'd never mistake any one of these bands for another; each has its own very distinct sound; yet there are common elements: specifically, the combination of some older or traditional musical genre with modern alt/pop/punk/funk elements, along with some jazzy improv.
If this really is a trend, it should be a very welcome change from all the crap
that has been dominating the airwaves and TV in recent years. Don't even get me started on that, or I'll rant on endlessly!
Meanwhile, I've also been busy working on my fiendish plot for world domination.
