I'm back..lol... and I just wanted to boast a small bit about something that happened. I've been doubting myself a lot lately, why I do not know . But after some work, and some help to a friend I have recently received a few compliments that have re-assured me that my doubts were just silly.....
I have a friend that is like family to me, and he just moved here from the East coast, he is a Hip Hop artist that has more of an underground style. Up till now... he has managed to get a real good fan base, and since he has moved here, it is even bigger. This guy inspires me for some reason, because I'm Mr. Creativity when he is around... it's insane! Well.. to make a long story short, I have created his latest CD cover with insert(front/back) and we took it to a local company to get the CD and Cover Art "pressed" so he can sell some when he goes back to the coast to do a show this week. He is performing with his former partner, and they are going to be an opener for the TECH N9NE show at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ, 6:00 p.m. on Sunday the 24th. <----CHEAP POP...lol
OK so when we went to get the CD and Cover art the guy looking at my work didn't know it was me that had created the cover and insert. My friend had mentioned something about the artwork, and the guy from the company dropped a few compliments about it including one that had mentioned how he was looking at work created by somebody with talent! I almost fell over...lol So I commented, and the guy did a double take, he didn't say anything right away, but I swear I heard Homer Simpson go "DOH!" lol... then because this was the first time I have had a piece looked at by somebody other than friends, family, or a teacher while I'm standing right there... I got a lil bit nervous so I started talking "shop"(babbling... lol). Then I got the compliment/reassurance I needed, without even looking for one.... He turned to my friend and said,"You what I like about this guy already? He just answered all of the questions I was going to ask, before I even opened my mouth and had to ask!" I had to contain myself until we left, which was like... 45 minutes later, but let me tell you... That was the best day I've had in a very long time!! It tells me, that school REALLY is paying off, and it has since inspired me to up my game, and get a little more intense on my Capstone Project(final project for my entire time in school). And to follow that... on Wednesday in class, my teacher I thought didn't like me, also complimented me, because without an effort I had a perfect essay paper. This is in my portfolio class!!
