Sarah and I decided to make last night a date night. We went out to dinner and then decided to take in a movie. Sarah has wanted to see Black Swan for awhile, and with the severe lack of options that we currently have, Black Swan it was.
On the way to the theater, Sarah and I started talking about Natalie Portman and how she has two movies out. We then started realizing that a lot of actors pulled double duty last year. Natalie Portman has Black Swan and No Strings Attached. Jeff Bridges had Tron: Legacy and True Grit out last year. Angelina Jolie had Salt and the Tourist. Harrison Ford, Mila Kunis and Johnny Depp all pulled double duty last year.
But with this many actors working their collective asses off, 2010 pretty much sucked. I mean were we really lining up to see Killers or Knight and Day? Jonah Hex face planted at the theaters and the fuck tards from Jackass came back and put out a movie in 3D that had no fucking business being in 3D, except to charge us an extra $5 for those stupid fucking glasses. With so little to choose from, I have actually started revisiting old classics like Tombstone and The Untouchables.
Granted, we had Inception, Devil , Eat Pray Love, and Toy Story 3. But those were few and far between. For the most part, it was a year full of Step Up 3D, and the fucking Karate Kid remake WHERE THE FUCKING TEACHER WASNT EVEN TEACHING KARATE, HE TAUGHT KUNG FU!!!!!! AND THE FACT THAT IM THE ONLY ONE WHO WAS ANGRY ABOUT THAT ONLY PISSES ME OFF MORE!!! If you bought tickets to a football game, and a monster truck rally broke out instead, wouldnt you be pissed? ok-- Im back now
So how did this happen? How did we end up with so many bad movies in theaters? BECAUSE WE FUCKING DID IT TO OURSELVES!!!! THE MOMENT WE ELEVATED SNOOKIE TO CELEBRITY STATUS, WE SENTENCED OURSELVES TO LIFE WITH NO HOPE OF PAROLE AT THE MOVIES AND ON TV!!!! We have become so obsessed with celebrites that we have actually lowered the bar so much that fame is now acheived with a reality show and a complete lack of shame.
As soon as we started tuning in to The Bachelor and Survivor on a regular basis, we were doomed. The moment that people like The Situation became tattooed on our collective brains, I knew we were screwed. Think about the celebrites that we grew up with. I grew up idolizing people like the Harrison Ford and Christopher Reeves. The generation before that grew up with Paul Newman and Robert Redford. Today? Snookie, the Situation, Kate Gosslin and Octo,fucking,mom. DOES ANYONE ELSE SEE A FUCKNG PROBLEM HERE? I fully understand Kim Kardasian. Hot and untalented is much easier to overlook, thats nothing new. But can anyone explain those other two bitches?
Its a real simple fix, people. Stop watching these goddam shows. WHY? Because they are making us stupid. We watch these shows and we actually start believing that just because these people are on TV, that must mean that they are talented. We have been tricked into believeing that The Situation and Snookie actually wrote books. I cant believe that people still fuck with me about watching pro-wrestling, have the audacity to tell me how fake it is, then go home and turn on the Fucking Jersey Shore. I was well aware of what pro-wresting was, long before I ever took my first bump in a ring, but you brain dead fuck tards are drawn into reality tv like a moth to a bug light.
Stop watching these fucking shows because its fucking up our concept of entertainment. And if you need help remembering this, then just rememeber "If reality was that entertaining, then we wouldnt be watching television in the first place".
