When Stupid Rains, Stupid pours
Now I have always said that I am a mental illness magnet. And there is proof in some of the people that have gravitated toward me like a bug light. For some reason, friends, aquinatances, and complete strangers open up to me like Im Dr Phil. I have lost count of how many stories I have heard that have started off with the words," Ive never told anyone this before, But..."
I have heard everything from,"My husband doesnt know Im cheating on him with a woman" to "Hey I met this really great guy on the internet the other day and we are getting married next month." And the funny thing is that I dont really mind it that much. But the problem is that if you open youreself up to the slightly odd and interesting, then stupid is never far behind.
And thats where I am right now. Im going through some stuff at work right now that is stupid on so many levels. I cant say too much for legal reason, but trust me, as soon as I am free and clear, I will go into rediculous amount of detail.
The main event in stupid right now is the shit that I am going through with the IRS. I got a letter at the beginning of the year that said I was being auditted for my 2007 tax returns. And I have to say, when I first found out that I was being auditted, I wasnt scared like I hear a lot of people are at first. My first reaction was that of misbelief.
"Who the fuck am I? Al Capone?"
I wasnt boot legging liquor in 2007, I was working for a piece of shit magazine delivery company. But the IRS auditted me because they thought that there was no way I was driving as much as I said I was. Keep in mind, when I was working for Newsways, I spent everyday in a different town. My week was spent in Fresno, Hanford, Taft, Frazier Park, Gorman or Selma. Half the time I only knew what day it was because of what town I was in.
But anyway, The IRS said I was bullshitting and said that I owed them $2600.00. So I went back to the people who did my taxes to find out what my options were. They worked on my case for months. So when all was said and done, I owed the Federal government $612.33. I was fine with this, It was better than $2600 so I wrote them a check for $612.33 and I was done with it.
About a month later, I get a letter from the Department of the Treasury. it was a check for $612.33. They reimbursed me what I had just paid them when they said I was full of shit. YOU MOTHER FUCKERS PUT ME THROUGH MONTHS OF BULLSHIT ONLY TO GIVE ME BACK EVERY PENNY THAT YOU TOOK FROM ME IN THE FIRST FUCKING PLACE? And that thought alone saved my sanity. After months of this crap, all it ended up costing me was time and not money.
Today, I got a letter from the fucking IRS saying that according to their records I STILL OWED THEM $612.33. WHAT!??! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!??! SO YOURE TELLING ME THAT AFTER MONTHS OF THIS BULLSHIT, AFTER BEING TOLD THAT I CHEATED THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF MONEY. I FINALLY PAID WHAT I WAS TOLD THAT I OWED, ONLY TO HAVE IT GVEN BACK TO ME. NOW I GET A LETTER THAT MIGHT AS WELL HAVE SAID,
"HEY FUCK STICK! YEAH, REMEMBER THAT MONEY THAT WE SAID YOU OWED US, THEN SAID YOU DIDNT OWE US AFTER ALL? WELL YOU STILL OWE US AND WE'RE GOING TO NEED THAT BACK. AND YOURE GOING TO BEND OVER AND TAKE IT BECAUSE WE ARE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT"
