The Chinese New Year party was really cool. For my second time ever out with this crowd it turned out well. Got to actually meet more of the folks around as well as chill with some of the people I met the last time I went out. And I didn't have to drive home through the ice this time, always a plus!
Still, I do have an amusing story to tell, I seem to collect these. Sit back, relax, and enjoy.
Saturday I got a call from a good friend of mine. He and his girl were heading out to a movie and invited me to tag along. The background is that they moved about 5-10min from where I live but I barely get to see them. Hard to remember to call each other I guess, still It's nice to hear from them. So when invited I, of course, said yes. It was only after I said yes that I was told what movie they were going to see. They had chosen The Wedding Date. Yes, the romantic comedy with the actress from Will and Grace. (For those who care, yes it's a cute film. Amusing and sweet. Not high art, but decent.) I had already said yes, so I didn't think I could back out immediately afterwards, but it was all so weird. I mean.. what guy calls one of his friends and invited him along on a date with him and his girl? I really should have insisted they bring a girl for me as well. It was all too funny. Chatting with him ahead of hte movie when we hooked up I asked if he just couldn't handle chick flicks or something. Did he need the male moral support or something? His joking reply had something to do with his girl being quite a handful. He said he could use a little help with her, I do the movies and he'll take care of the rest. I thought that was patently unfair. If I go through the romantic movie with the girl, should I get to go home with her too? Hee. It was more amusing cause after the movie he wandered off to the restroom and his girl and I were laughing about the situation. She said she didn't mind me being along, but agreed with me that it was odd. A nice guy, but a weirdo sometimes.
Of course, to top it off, she started complaining about him and his porn habit. I was hard pressed to comment with a straight face. She did have a valid point though, that if he wanted to see a girl naked, all he had to do was ask her. If she refused, then she could understand his looking at porn. But it seems he hadn't even considered taking advantage of this opportunity.
Yea... sometimes there are things I don't need to know about my friends and their sex lives.
