ok...lotts of people have been asking what my sn means....so I'm gonna break it down for everyone...and keep in mind...I'm a nerd and a mythology buff (although not an expert by any means.....yet.....)
DragunCeol is Gaelic..........
for those of you who don't already know this Gaelic is a dead language used by the Celts (or Gauls) before Rome defeated them......it survived in Scotland and Ireland until the British took over...and they're trying to bring it back in some areas even today.
Dragun is (obviously) Dragon and Ceol is actually Music
So the short form of my sn is DragonMusic...now there are several reasons I chose these words........
#1-I collect dragons and I'm a music major so dragons and music play a big part in my life
#2-There is a myth (I believe it's Celtic...but I'm unsure of the region...I used to think it was Irish..but I think it's from somewhere else now.....more research to come) about dragons......A dragon's song is so beautiful it can lure humans (their preferred food source
) to their lair for dinner (keep in mind that's the shortened version....but yeah).......much like the Sirens of Greco-Roman mythology......the Celts believed that the song of the dragon was the most beautiful music one could ever hear.......but beauty can be extremely decieving and therefore dangerous. I like to think of myself as beautiful and dangerous....
And I also belive the music I write to be beautiful and decieving......it's very modern/classical w/ some impressionistic/romantic and even modal
for those of you who know your classical music
#3-the reason I chose to use the Gaelic language (besides the mythology thing).....I'm mostly Irish......there ya go
well.....if you have questions just ask them...i'll answer if i can
