Thanks to all of you lovelies that left me a Happy Birthday message. It was such a surprise to sign on tonight and find sooooo many comments!



So.....overall.......kickass Birthday-except for being hungover for the first half of it.

Oops!

A couple of girls from work took me out Wednesday night and got me all lit. And my good friend DMac called my cell from the other bar I hang out at and got the whole bar to sing Happy Birthday to me over the phone...it was so sweet. So, then I spent the better part of Thursday morning laying about the house in my bathrobe drinking water. I don't think I've been drunk since summer. I remember why I stopped drinking so much now....

Anyway....the man bought me a day at the local salon...so at 3:45 I went and got a pedicure & a manicure, and the girl who we're really good friends with that works there did my makeup for the night. It was sooooooooo relaxing. He got me a facial too-but they were booked solid so I get to go back for that.

Then I went back home and got ready for dinner-wore an awesome 1950's Vintage teal green party dress, cuban heeled stockings, hair pulled up and curled w/ my cute rhinestone cherry hairpins & matching necklace (to go with my perfectly cherry red painted nails-sorry I girled out). He picked me up at about 7:45 & we drove out to the west end. He didn't tell me where we were dining.....

"The Copper Grill" is fucking awesome! You walk in and you think you're in a Sinatra movie. The place is all done up in velvet leopard print booths, exposed brick, dark wood floors, lush draperies, huge paintings of zebras and elephants, and tigers and such....there's a grill in the middle of the restaurant where they cook all your meal in front of you....the lighting is amazing.....all the waiters are dressed in tuxes...so they seat us in a big leopard print booth....I feel like I should have a cigarette holder & a fox stoll & Dean Martin singing to me from across the room. It was suuuuuper fancy. I get wine. He gets a white russian...we order appetizers...I get the shrimp scampi & he gets french onion soup. I've never had shrimp like that before. It was incredible....then my bigass Top 5 on the East Coast rated Caeser salad comes...I ate too much of it-but it was good. Then......it's time for our main course to arrive....the waiters bringing it over...he sets down Rob's 20 oz strip steak...and he goes to set down my surf & turf filet plus African lobster tail........and there's this little cup of butter sauce for the lobster..........and as he's setting it down, it falls off the plate, hits the table and splatters all over my dress & Rob's $400 velvet jacket. Rob's pissed. And if any of you have ever met Rob-he can be VERY intimidating. But he held his cool fairly well. The waiter appologized profusely & brought us lemon drop shooters on the house and offers to foot the bill for the dry cleaning.

We finish up the main course & have coffee, and I splurge on dessert-a light creme pastrie filled with chocolate mouse and doused in a light vanilla cream sauce. It was decadent! The waiter is obviously upset in himself...he thinks we're not gonna tip him. But we did. Straight up 15%-because if the butter sauce doesn't come out of our clothes...they're gonna have to reimburse us. Which the GM assured us..and we got both of their business cards. Rob kept appologizing for my Birthday being 'ruined'....I was like baby....my birthday wasn't ruined...our dress & jacket may be...but not my birthday...he made it absolutely special. He outdid himself from last year. I love him.

Then we went back to his place, and he gave me a few more gifts....the Simpsons season 5 dvd, this "Left of the Dial" boxset with all alt stuff from the 80's like English Beat, Ministry, Cramps, Pretenders, Ultravox, etc, etc, and he bought me the Jenna Jameson autobiography "How to Make Love Like A Porn Star"-I'm fucking stoked about that. She's a hero of mine. Anyway...then his mama called and she wished me happy birthday...I get to meet her at the end of march for the first time when we go up to New York for the Black Crowes reunion. Then we fell asleep on the couch together...and finally ended up crawling into bed and each others arms. I love the hell out of that man.
