Having been a soldier most my life I have walked along side many amazing people.
I have sat and talked to a Lancaster bomber tail gunner, I have stood and talked to a VC holder but the hardest thing I have done is talk to those who were never the same again
I have several friends who at this time of year lock themselves away as they can’t cope with the loud bangs of the fireworks.
One gentleman I met by chance because he was being harangued by a group of yobs who poked fun st him and were belittling him because they had led of a banger and he hit the deck and covered his face . Needless to say I educated the 4 obnoxious scroutbags who had tried to kick off at me when I went to his aid surprisingly they didn’t like it when their knives and bats were in the floor and two had broken jaws and the others bloody noses and black eyes.
Sorry back on track I now spend many nights this time of year visiting these guys and trying to help them which is one of the reasons I support the following charities
