The best hour on television is on the relatively small premium channel Showtime. Showtime kind of used to a kind of a big deal back when I was a kid in the 80's. Of course this was back when cable operators were these little mom and pop franchises and the remote controllers were the size of most office phones, but I digress. Back then the premium channel choices were limited. It was either the vastly inferior and relatively new HBO/Cinemax combination or the well established and pioneering Showtime/Movie Channel combo. Then of course a little company called Time Warner decided to get themselves purchased by Viacom and you know the rest. The point is that Showtime fell off the map for a while until it started showing its own original programming that wasn't just soft-core boobfests. Shows like "Queer as Folk" and the vastly under appreciated gem "Dead Like Me" helped bring Showtime back from the brink of being nothing more than the answer to a Trivial Pursuit question. Their latest batch of shows is my favorite and truthfully is the only reason I'm springing for it. "Weeds" and "Californication" are currently the only shows I have programmed into my DVR in the venerable season mode. I'm excited to see the season finale of David Duchovney's show "Californication" which airs this Monday, but I will miss it. Duchovney plays a writer struggling through the process of writing his next book. His life is circling the drain as he lives off of the notoriety and seemingly endless stream of random hook ups that his first book, which was optioned into an incredibly popular movie that he despises, seems to afford him. His now ex-girlfriend and mother of his precocious 12 year old daughter is about to marry a richer, older man, with a teenage daughter of his own. Duchovney's character mistakenly had a one night stand with the daughter in the first episode and she has subsequently stolen his new manuscript and is about to publish it as her own. Unfortunately, the mother of his child is having second thoughts about her upcoming marriage and after sleeping with him again while helping him deal with the recent death of his father, might want to give their relationship another try. It's good to see Duchovney doing something besides being Tea Leoni's husband. Frankly, I would say that having Tea Leoni as your main squeeze is more than enough of an accomplishment for any life, but it's good to see Mulder employed.

I'm happy to say that this experiment with public transportation is going swimmingly. I'm never late for work anymore and I actually switch buses in the trendy part of town where the good restaurants are, so I can further my addiction for Pad Thai, Greater's Ice Cream, and Servatii's Bakery. Speaking of Pad Thai, I'm happy that Walgreens has a special on their international flavored instant lunches since it encourages stoners to expand their diets beyond frozen burritos and Yoo-Hoos.

I need to find another place in the area to host a group shoot because I miss all of my model and photographer friends and I hate that we can only get together once a month. I have to go buy a couple space heaters and some frames for certificates and awards that I won.

Reduce, reuse, recycle.
