I did some old school White Wolf roleplaying last night and apparently pissed off the group. They've been playing for a while and were 5th Gen vampires so the storyteller (DM for the D and D crowd) decided to bring me in to stir the pot and pissed them off by asking me play as werewolf, giving me a distinct advantage in combat. I expected to be a Glasswalker, but the storyteller decided he needed a Bone Gnawer. I wasn't thrilled with his decision but I played the character like I was supposed to, which is what caused the drama.
According to the game system, Bone Gnawers are scavenger types who roam the city streets and defend the weak but sort of fight dirty in that they duck and weave and only strike when it is most advantageous to which is what I did. So when it came time to fight the big bad I ducked and dodged while the group got slapped around and after everyone else in the party had done as much damage as they could and were all nearly killed, I wiped the floor with him by move three of my five turns.
So the Storyteller calls me today and is mad when I pointed out that he forced me to be that charcter and I was just playing by his rules. So I don't think I'll be doing that again any time soon.
