Thanks to the holiday, the official numbers won't be in until Tuesday, but based on Friday's Box Office numbers "Crank" starring Jason Statham will likely be the number one movie in America, edging out Mark Wahlberg's "Invincible". It's still very close and they could swap places before all is said and done.
Both movies were okay but is it me or does Marky Mark only do his best work in movies based in the seventies or early eighties? And why is Jason Statham making the same movie over again? My friends think I'm crazy but I swear I saw the French guy in one of the crowd scenes. I loved the film, but the girl I was with kept asking where the black beamer was. Hollywood has got to come up with a different reason for Jason Statham to kick butt for ninety minutes than he's a hitman. Can't he be fighting terrorists or drug dealers or trying to get his car back from the valet without that weird valet BO or the change missing from the cup holder?
We had the last backyard cookout of the summer and things were a little subdued this year with mom still in the hospital. Sadly her health has taken a turn for the worst since the last time she went in and we are coming very close to having to move her into a full care retirement community. I'm not sad anymore as more resigned to the reality of the situation. As much as it hurts to see her deterioration, it will only get worse from here on out, but I decided that since every person on the planet has to go through this there's no use feeling sorry for myself. My parents had kids so that they could be cared for when they reached their golden years and that's what time it is. I'm just doing what you're supposed to. So if you see me in the real world and I'm not as jolly as usual, you'll know why.
Now to leave on a happy note: Drink tasty beverages.
EDIT: of course the movie numbers came back and Invincible managed to hold off Crank.
