My eyes are all gummed up from the cold I caught on Friday. I wake up in the morning and my lids are sealed shut like an unpeeled banana...seriously that's what it feels like. I have to open my eyes with my fingers, and then it's like looking through a curtain of snot.
I imagine that if I was in the game Resident Evil and...

I just blew my nose and it sounded like a model airplane. It was pretty funny, and has never happened before. I can't stop laughing. I hope I get a job soon, this is crazy.

Sounds funny to me.
Why your nose sounded like a model airplane like that?

mssasha:
I mentally tired being sick too.

FINALLY some good news after MONTHS of nothing but bad (except for the election results; those were good). University of Miami already (!!) accepted me for the fall of '09 law school class. That means that in the very LEAST I will be going to a ranked law school this August.
So, I think maybe we have finally hit bottom

Thank you

Here's some great news:
I quit my job (such as it was) on Monday, because I haven't gotten paid, and I don't see any reasonable expectation of getting paid at any time in the near future. I should not have come to Chicago for this job. I was an idiot. I am cold, I have no friends here, and now I am bleeding the money...

That's understandable.

Just save up some money and move back if you miss it here or hate it there so much. Simple as that.

This article is awesome:
Hipster: The Dead End of Western Civilization
Weve reached a point in our civilization where counterculture has mutated into a self-obsessed aesthetic vacuum. So while hipsterdom is the end product of all prior countercultures, its been stripped of its subversion and originality. (Cover story of Adbusters Issue #79.)

The House of wing. You live near Clark St? You should so stick it out for another couple of months and experince Chicago in the summer. I've lived in Miami and Boca before and this trip I've decided that it's nothing , but shit down here.
If you really hate the cold go out to the west coast.

We'll be coming to Chicago when it gets a bit warmer up there, probably in May or so.
The only resolution I am making this year is about making 2009 better than 2008.
In 2008:
-I lost my career
-I lost more than half of my friends
-I lost my house
-I think I made myself crazier than I was before
BUT...I did re-connect with somebody very important to me. We made peace. I hate unresolved issues with loved ones.

My first winter back home in Chicago since 2003
One of the things about living in the dry cold North is that your hands get dry and you go through hand lotion like a Frenchman goes through garlic. I am tired of smelling like a flower and ending up with dry hands anyway. I am wearing white chenille gloves as I type this; I feel silly.
Can anybody recommend me a GOOD therapeutic hand...

Futon mattress, full size - $16 (Lincoln Park)

Ok, the $16.00 is misleading. The actual price for this fine futon mattress is two bottles of Yellow Tail Cabernet (It's cheap, about $8.00 a bottle at the 7-11 or liquor store). I really am not interested in money for this mattress.
Here's the deal. The mattress is Red. It has no stains, rips, tears, or anything. It doesn't smell funny. There really isn't anything WRONG with it other than I wanted to replace it with something more comfortable to sit on (this mattress has no springs). It is not new. It's a little lumpy. My impression of it is that it is more comfortable to sleep on than sit on. In any case, there really isn't anything WRONG with it; I just needed something different.
There is a cover that I will throw in for free. The cover is sort of a black nu-leather-ish material. It really doesn't look bad. It has one *little* tear in it that is about an inch long and really isn't noticeable. I know the cover fits on the mattress, because I took the cover off the mattress when I replaced the mattress. It looks kind of like a pain to get back on, so I didn't bother. The cover is in really decent condition, it's just that I really don't have a use for it. I wanted a cloth cover. Yours for the taking.
As I said in the title, the mattress is full size (not queen). If you need a futon mattress and are on a budget (as in: looking for a used futon mattress on Craigslist), this is the mattress for you.
I live on the third floor, you will probably want to bring a friend to help you with it. It's not terribly heavy, just bulky.
In case you are wondering about the wine, I am 37, so don't worry about buying alcohol for a minor. It's really just that I think about $20 is a fair price, and I probably would have just gone to the corner to get 2 bottles of Yellow Tail Cabernet anyway with the money. Consider the $4 a tip for getting the mattress out of my apartment.
Specific area: Lincoln Park, Wrightwood and Halsted.
