Not an exceptionally neurotic week, so maybe a shorter journal entry today.

Getting closer to testability for my CDL. Could use a little more polish though. I'm kind of interested in hauling cars in a year or two. I haven't seen any jobs hauling cars available to people right out of school. I hear different things about how much money car transporters make, but I spos eit's just a matter of seeking out the good jobs. Thing to do starting out is to do the best job you can and make yourself a valuable commodity that commands a high price for services rendered.

Getting my new car inspected today. It's prettty tight, having only 32K on it now. It doesn't quite have the fabulous ride and handling that my stratus has/had. I think dodge has alway kept in business by making cars that are really great when you first buy them, with great design and performance, though they don't hold up so well over the years.

One thing about bikes is that when they're your only trasportation it cuts down on your tendency to buy random shit, since you cannot transport a whole lot of stuff on a bike. I find myself thinking "oh, I could go out and buy this or that" and I realize i have to be careful about getting into that frame of mind.

I think I'm getting a real mild cold or have a vexing level of seasonal allergies. I tend to associate allergies with the early summer. I don't know whether there might be much pollen or other stuff in the air right now. I was really llucky never to get sick when I was commuting on the bike. I actually anticipated that I would finally catch a cold when I started driving a car again. People catch colds in the winter in large part becasue the dry air dries out their mucus membranes, and you get more of that when in a car as opposed to on a bike. This theory however does not take into account that most of the day you are not on a bike or in a car to maybe it's just total poppycock.

I really need to get my CDL and get to work. Pay for my car and heating oil and thngs like that.

I think a lot about whether I'll ever get into a serious relationship again. I'm kind of disillusioned with the general process of human life and how reproducing yourself tends to tie you down with work obligations for multiple decades. Women get disillusioned with me when I show a great lack of enthusiasm for this massive commmitment, and I in turn have become disillusioned with them. But I still like getting naked with them. Maybe I could have adventures and make money and have a family late in life. There really are no answers, just being from moment to moment. It just looks like there are answers when you're fairly well assimilated to the patterns of the majority culture.

I guess that's it for now. Love and kisses to all my friends. But with more emphasis on the girls.

jormagund:
I'd personally suggest doing a little bit of over-the-road time before doing more local or regional work such as car transport. But that is only my opinion, plenty of drivers have only ever stayed within a couple hundred miles of their depot. Incidentally I am fairly certain that Swift is one of the bigger car carriers in the New England area. Their OTR drivers don't have a very good reputation among peers (possibly the worst in fact) but I think car carrier division is something entirely different. As far as I know they work out of central Mass. in fact... despite the closest major Swift depot being in Syracuse.

But I digress... are you pretty much done with the CDL school at this point? What's left? Do they spend time with you practicing... specifically... your state's CDL exam? What about providing the truck for the test? And last question... have you decided on a company or been applying or anything along those lines?

Thanks for the info! I'll be sure to check it out, even though I'm mostly just interested in the character Dr. House and not so much in the actor Hugh Laurie.
