"some of you may know this song, some of you may not"

this is how corin tucker introduced what would prove to be the second to last song and a perfect introduction to "dig me out." sleater-kinney rocked hard last night, really fucking hard. it was a typical avalon crowd (much to my dismay, though most people tell me i fall into this dirty catergory) for such a high profile hipster event, you know what i mean. so many hairstyles, so many pants of various tightnesses, so many suit coats that are far to short for people. the retro, my clothes don't fit me and they look they came from a thrift store but they didn't, look.
upon coming out for the encore they whipped through two songs pretty quickly before corin offered up those words and started playing an instantly recognizable, non-sleater-kinney song. i flipped my shit. it was "mother," they were covering f-ing danzig. now if you ever heard corin tucker sing you can only imagine what this sounded like and i'm a huge glenn danzig fan but he can retire, it's over for him now.

on a "sad" note, i did not get to see jamie once again. she was there last night, somewhere in the vast sea of people that clogged the middle. i don't like to live by rules but i have one that applies to last night's situation. under normal circumstances i would never meet up with my ex-girlfriend that i haven't seen in two years, while i'm at a concert of a band that she and i saw on two previous occassions, and introduce her to my new girlfriend. it seems wrong to me on all levels. i don't want jealously or hurt feelings, i just want to see someone i spent so much time with so long ago and hold in such high regard. but it doesn't matter, no jamie =no mess last night. besides, i get the feeling like she doesn't really want to see me anyway.
shuli enjoyed herself last night and that was important to me. she was having a height problem with the men standing in front of her. i will write more about proper and improper rockshow etiquette later. for now peace.
